Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Locwars, a programmable tower-defense strategy game and coding workspace. By creating an account, signing in, or using Locwars, you agree to these terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Code of Conduct.

If you use Locwars on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organization. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use Locwars.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Locwars. If the law where you live requires a higher minimum age to use online services, that higher age applies. Locwars is not directed to children under 13 and must not be used by anyone under 13.

Locwars uses GitHub OAuth for sign-in. You are responsible for keeping your GitHub account secure and for all activity that occurs through your Locwars account. You must provide accurate account information and must not impersonate another person or create an account to evade moderation or enforcement.

Locwars separates authentication identity from public game identity. Your email and GitHub account are used for sign-in and account administration. Your chosen display name, avatar, public profile, leaderboard entries, and match-derived activity may be visible to other players.

You are responsible for the display name, bot names, and other public identifiers you choose. Do not use names or profile details that are misleading, infringe someone else's rights, contain private information, or violate the Code of Conduct.

Locwars lets you write and submit TypeScript or JavaScript bot code, save drafts, run matches, and generate replays, traces, logs, and leaderboard records. Your submitted bot code, draft titles, match outputs, and related metadata are your "User Content."

You keep ownership of your User Content. You grant Locwars a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, run, analyze, display, reproduce, and create technical artifacts from your User Content as needed to operate, secure, debug, improve, and promote Locwars. This includes running your bot code in controlled environments, calculating scores, generating replays, and showing public leaderboard or profile data.

Do not submit code or content unless you have the rights needed to do so. You are solely responsible for User Content you submit and for any consequences of submitting it.

Locwars may compile, execute, sandbox, inspect, rate-limit, reject, stop, or delete bot submissions to protect the service and other users. You must not attempt to:

• escape or bypass the bot runtime, sandbox, queue, rate limits, or access controls;
• read, exfiltrate, corrupt, or interfere with data that does not belong to you;
• attack Locwars infrastructure, GitHub, third-party services, or other users;
• submit malware, credential stealers, network scanners, spam, or abusive automation;
• hide prohibited behavior through obfuscation or repeated trial submissions.

Locwars leaderboards are intended to reflect legitimate strategy under the published game rules. We may remove or adjust leaderboard entries, invalidate match results, disable accounts, or change scoring where we believe results are caused by bugs, exploits, cheating, abuse, service errors, or rule changes.

You must not manipulate leaderboards through multiple accounts, automated spam, exploit chains, collusion, unauthorized API access, or attempts to tamper with match artifacts.

You agree not to use Locwars to:

• harass, threaten, abuse, dox, or impersonate others;
• infringe intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other legal rights;
• publish unlawful, hateful, sexually exploitative, or violent extremist content;
• probe, scan, overload, disrupt, or degrade the service;
• access or attempt to access accounts, systems, or data without authorization;
• violate applicable law or encourage others to do so.

Locwars is provided as an evolving game and coding product. We may add, remove, suspend, or change features, challenges, scoring formulas, content, limits, runtimes, supported APIs, storage behavior, or availability at any time.

We try to preserve useful match and replay history, but we do not guarantee that any leaderboard, replay, trace, bot draft, challenge, API, or compatibility behavior will remain available indefinitely.

We may investigate suspected violations and may remove content, reject submissions, disable runs, hide public profile information, suspend or terminate accounts, preserve evidence, or report activity where appropriate. We may act immediately where needed to protect users, infrastructure, or legal compliance.

GitHub sign-in and other infrastructure providers are third-party services governed by their own terms and policies. Locwars is not responsible for third-party services, and your use of them may require separate agreements with those providers.

Locwars is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, security, accuracy, and preservation of data or rankings.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Locwars and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost goodwill, service interruption, or security incidents arising from or related to your use of Locwars.

We may update these terms as Locwars changes. If an update is material, we may require you to accept the new version before continuing to use the service. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated terms.
